Aje issue 2 : Nothing is as it seems
What a year its been! The nation has gone from strength to strength and with a strong lineup and some excellent forward momentum, there’s no time better than the present to return to the mysterious and seductive world of everyone’s favourite spell-slinging heroine. And it’s all thanks to the support of the indomitable Republic Nation...you rock!.
By now, you’ve probably noticed that the “Aje” title has been updated with a new issue, further chronicling “What was, before the ships came”, among other things. If you haven’t yet downloaded Aje issue 2, what are you waiting for? GET IT HERE!
If you have read it, we hope you had fun, and look forward to your feedback. We’d like to assure you that you won’t have to wait too long for issue 3, as I am glad to report that Aje has officially become a part of Comic Republic’s regular lineup! Yes, you got that right, we are now on a regular schedule (as our very own art-and-creativity-loving blogger Duvy was careful to remind me, when this blog post threatened tardiness!).
One thing we try to achieve with Aje, is to provide something you’ll enjoy reading again and again. To this end you may have noticed that the book is illustrated by none other than our CEO himself, Jide Martin. (With some help from the incredibly talented Ozo Ezeogu)
Art of Jide Martin
A lot goes into the composition of each panel and page, and I’m in the process of convincing him to do a short series on the backstory of each image, and sequence. Some day I’ll convince him! But until then, have fun poring over each page and finding the little hidden details we have sprinkled around.
We won’t be confirming or denying any theories about what may or may not be relevant about a silhouette here….a shadow there… a symbol or marking on a weapon or a piece of cloth… or even the font used for certain characters, but will assure you that you can’t really go too far when hunting down little clues as to what’s coming next. I’ll be on hand to help out, as a new blog series on the influences and history of Aje is currently a work in progress! More details as they become available...
So please have fun with Aje issue 2, and when you’re done with it, please read it back to back with issue 1!
... and remember, nothing is as it seems.
See you soon.
